Spotlight on Art Tutors

Introducing Isabell, Local Pottery Tutor

The Logan Artist Association relies on its dedicated group of tutors that volunteer their time, knowledge and skills to assist their students with their art. One of their devoted pottery tutors is Isabell Warman.

Isabell’s love and passion for pottery was ignited when her family moved to Ingham in North Queensland in 1983. First introduce to pottery when she assisted each week with crafts in her sons’ class at the Ingham State School.

When she moved to Gladstone in 1984, Isabell joined the pottery club located opposite the high school where her husband was teaching; involving herself in many workshops. Selling her pottery in the local gallery and markets as well as participating in various exhibitions.

In 1990, Isabell was invited to teach wheel work; going on to teach hand building and children’s classes.  During this time, she was invited to do a 3 month ‘Artist in Residence’ at the Gladstone Art Gallery.  It was clear that Isabell had found her passion for pottery; continuing to teach in Gladstone for the next 20 years before returning to Brisbane in 2011.

Becoming a member of the Logan Artist Association in August, 2013; enabled her to continue the practice of “changing a lump of wet clay into a useful item”.

Throughout her time at the Logan Artist Association, she has been and continues to be a great asset; through her dedication to teaching, her organisational skills and commitment to the role of Pottery Studio Co-Ordinator and Vice President.

This interaction with likeminded potters keeps Isabell on her toes and gives her great pleasure.

Isabell is a well-respected potter and her work has been sold around the world.
