Illegal Rubbish Dump Infuriates Locals, Sparking Calls Change

Logan’s southside tip location is up for debate with residents calling for it to be closed, relocated and the whole area revamped, after an illegal dumping spree at Christmas left the area a mess.

Over the course of the Christmas break, tons of rubbish, including tyres, fridges, mattresses, old paint and even a jet ski has been dumped in the bush, just metres from the front gate of Logan City Council’s Beenleigh Waste and Recycling Facility. This location has been a regular dumping ground, with last year residents finding letters that were believed to be stolen.

Logan City Council is strongly against this type of behaviour and said they would fine anyone found to be illegally dumping. Fines of more than $130 can be issued for those found to be illegally dumping. People and businesses can also be put on notice if the dumped rubbish is on private property.
