Introducing local singing duo, Cath Mundy and Jay Turner, known as Mundy-Turner.

The duo produces contemporary folk and acoustic style music. The duo composes original songs with a wide range of influences from world-roots to rock, often with a strong social justice element. They have a number of solo and duo albums available on iTunes and Spotify, including “Passion Roulette”, “Movements in Architecture”, “High Life” and “Crooked House”, just to name a few.

In addition to their solo careers, Cath and Jay also work closely with the community, launching multiple community choirs, Freedom Train (2008) and Mixed Beans (2009).

“It was an amazing way to connect for us to connect to our new community through the power of group singing” commented Cath.

During COVID, they began creating “iso choir” recording projects. These are music videos and audio tracks where each choir member recorded themselves singing along to the guide tracks at home and Jay would bring their voices together in the studio.

“We had to quickly adapt and upskill. Surprisingly, it has turned out to be very positive for us!” stated Cath.

“Our community choirs all started to run online using Facebook Live and Zoom. We had to change our home office into a live-casting studio, with lighting and backdrops.”

The results were unbelievably inspiring. Their first ‘iso choir’ video with their Brisbane choir was featured on Channel 9 news.

“As 2020 progressed, we were offered more online singing work. We were flat-out busy. It was really quite extraordinary” stated Cath.

When Jay’s UK 2020 tour was cancelled due to the pandemic, they embarked upon the NOT-THE-UK-TOUR series of four livestreamed concerts, beamed from their
lounge room with a small (covid-safe) live audience of local fans.

“To be honest, we were blown away by how successful these livestream gigs turned out to be. There were people tuning in from everywhere from ‘just down the road’ to 14,000 kilometres away in Holland” remarked Cath.
