Introducing the Flagstone Tigers

The last few years have clearly been difficult for many within our local community, however; 2021 has been nothing but special for the inaugural year of the Flagstone Tigers.

After many months of planning and with the backing and commitment to Grassroots Rugby League by Easts Tigers and PEET Flagstone, the Flagstone Tigers saw a year of continuous growth which has been founded by nothing other than a determination to be a club for families. This growth has also only been possible by our wonderful sponsors who share our values and continue to strive for a vibrant Flagstone.

The strength of the club began with the culmination of five teams from the Under 6 to Under 9 age groups representing the club. Along with this, we had a huge number of children engage in a Development Program that enhances Rugby League skills and engages the children in a community-based program, with an aim to occupy young minds in disciplined training sessions. The players within our junior squads played their hearts out each and every week and we look forward to expanding these teams and continuing to develop young leaders for our community.

We finished our year with a sensational Presentation Day, sponsored by PEET Flagstone. This event had our players and community enjoy a day of fun, rides, food, a screening of the NRL Grand Final and our first presentation that saw the foundation of our Club Person of the Year Award. This year, the award was presented to two individuals who have helped to develop our club from an idea, to a full field home base with clubhouse and facilities. We congratulate Nikkea Channell and Nathan Osborne on being the 2021 PEET Club Person of the Year.

Our vision remains strong and with that vision comes the responsibility of community members to step forward and carry that commitment. On October 13, the club held it’s Annual General Meeting that saw a total of 18 members of our Tiger family elected to the committee. The committee’s sole responsibility is to ensure the safety, wellbeing and viability of our players, families and club for now and in the future. We also would like to thank those who are moving on from their roles and wish them all the best for future. Your contribution has been excellent and so important in establishing our values.
