Finding the Balance with Ana!

Most people have no idea how good their body is designed to feel”.

That is what Rochedale South local, wife and mother of 2 discovered when she started doing yoga and Pilates. The transformation she has experienced, both physically and mentally, since she stated has been life-changing.

So much so, Ana decided to help others and has been teaching yoga and Pilates since 2013; believing that exercise and movement should be the way of life.

“I am passionate about providing a nurturing and safe space for you to move your body” explained Ana, owner of Om Wellness, “We would like to empower you with the skill and knowledge to best nourish and move your body.”

How did you get involved in Yoga and Pilates?

After having my second child, my body was not the same as it was before having kids. I had to go and see a physio to help me with several things that happened after having kids and he recommended I take up some Pilates to help me repair my core and help with my posture. With that, I joined a local Reformer Pilates Studio and have not looked back since. 

Not only did Pilates help me repair my separated abdominals but it also helped with my pelvic floor and helped me get back into shape. Through this, I also started to practice Yoga which helped me deal with my post-natal depression and anxiety. 

That was a catalyst to my change of life, mindset and now helping others move better and feel better in their bodies. My passion is helping others feel amazing through mindful exercises such as yoga and Pilates. Pilates and Yoga have helped me not just see physical results but also mentally.

What made you open OM Wellness in Rochedale? 

I knew Pilates and Yoga was amazing but the way it changed my life made me so passionate about sharing this with others. 

I was never a fan of big gyms and have found them quite intimidating at times. My vision is to create a space where people can come together to exercise, challenge their body and mind without being intimidated and feeling judged.

All levels of experience are welcome at our studio, with each class catering for people’s levels of ability so everyone can participate in the workout and meet their body where it is at. 

We all know that exercise has many physical health benefits but I believe the mental benefits outweigh the physical benefits. Focusing on breathing in Pilates and yoga helps individuals lower the stress levels that are within their bodies. Pilates is a wonderful exercise that can also aid in losing weight and toning the body; while, yoga will help you reduce stress and anxiety. Together they make a wonderful combination.

How long have you been open?

In September 2020, I took over Om Wellness. We have been open for 15 months.

What services do you provide?

At Om Wellness, we provide Reformer Pilates, Mat Pilates, Barre and Yoga Classes. We also offer Sound Healing events every month. By the end of January 2022, we are introducing a Sound Lounge.  We also offer pre and post-natal yoga and Pilates classes. 

Tell us about your 28-day Health & Wellness Program starting in January.

The 28 Day Health and Wellness Program is a program designed to help you kick start your health and wellness goals. It includes all classes we offer plus a meal guide and a 30 min consultation to go over your goals and help you get started. 

What made you start this program?

I started this program to help those individuals who would like to start a new exercise program but maybe feeling a little anxious about starting something new. This program is perfect to help with setting some grounded habits.

Who should take part?

This program is suitable for anyone wanting to create new habits, start something new and create a lifelong love for movement. As we mentioned above, our classes are designed to cater for all fitness levels and our highly trained instructors will help make you feel comfortable every step of the way.

Do you have any other workshops and programs planned for 2022?

2022 will be a great year for Om Wellness! We will have Sound Healing workshops every month. As well as Beginners Crystal Bowl workshops where you can learn to play your own Crystal Sound Bowl and the bowls benefits. In addition, we are also introducing a Sound Lounge to our studio. A Sound Lounge is a therapeutic device pulsing healing vibrations throughout the body to relax, retune, rebalance at the cellular level. 

What can people expect when they come?

We have created a space that is very inviting, judgment-free and supportive. You will feel like you are part of an amazing community that cares about you and your wellbeing. Our instructors and clients are also willing to help you if you have any questions or are unsure of anything. 

Where is your favourite coffee spot in Logan?

Logan is such an amazing place to live in. I have several coffee spots that I love including Moonlight Bandit Cafe, Extraction Artisan Coffee, Three Coffee and St Coco. All these places have great coffee and delicious food. 

Apart from yoga, what do you like to do to relax?

To relax I love to go out in nature. I love to take my family out to of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and visit nature walks to slow down, be present and connect with our senses.
